METROPLEX SENIOR SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION-MINUTES March 18, 2025

  1. Jim Gibbons, Vive-President, called the meeting to order at 11:00a.m.
           *  Team Registration forms and team fees were collected prior to meeting
           *  Softballs and home plate mats were distributed to all
  2. All attendees recited the Lord’s Prayer
  3. All attendees said the Pledge of Allegiance
  4. Jim Gibbons led a roll call for teams that were in attendance. Robson Ranch Texans, Grand Prairie Grays and Dallas Flames not in attendance; each notified Jim in advance. 
  5. There was a motion and a second to approve the Jan 14, 2025 minutes. The motion passed
  6. Mike McGlothin, Treasurer, gave the Treasurer’s report at the Jan 14 meeting   Ending Balance from 1/14/2025 was $6,883.21. Deposits were $1,702.04 and Expenses were $3,529.50 After expenses, the ending balance  $5,055.75.  There was a motion and a second to approve the report.  The motion passed.
  7. New Business
  • Courtesy runner rule from home plate modified: After discussion it was voted that the courtesy runner must stop at first base; only exception is when Dead Ball occurs as result of the play.
  • Pitchers in all divisions must wear a mask. 
  • Catchers can record an out at home plate by touching any part of the one-piece home plate.
  • Perry Baptiste, Manager of Southlake Hornets, discussed the “Beat the Heat” cruise that members of his team took last year.  Business cards with Perry’s contact information made available to all teams.
  • David Martin, our umpire chief, handed out Scorebooks, USA Rule Books and answered questions8. General Announcements
  • Spring League Season will be April 8th through June 26th.
  • Summer break will be June 27th through August 4th
  • MSCSA Golf tournament date TBD at this time
  • Next Meeting:  TBD
