METROPLEX SENIOR SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION-MINUTES February 10, 2026

  1. Tom Athens, President, called the meeting to order at 11:05 a.m.
  2. All attendees recited the Lord’s Prayer
  3. All attendees said the Pledge of Allegiance
  4. Tom Athens led a roll call for teams in attendance.  All teams were present.
  5. There was a motion and a second to approve the November 11, 2025 minutes. The motion passed
  6. Mike McGlothin, Treasurer, gave the Treasurer’s report. Ending Balance from 11/11/2025 was $10,901.57. Receipts were $164.92 and Expenses were $7,319.74. After Expenses, the Ending Balance is $3,746.75. There was a motion and a second to approve the report.  The motion passed. 
  7. New Business
  • Purchase of Bat Tester for 2026. Dates and locations TBD by March 24, 2026 Coaches Meeting
  • Two boxes of softballs distributed to each team
  • Pitching  Screens were discussed for consideration in 2026 season. Rules being formalized by referring to USA, SSUSA, USSSA, ISSA, et At 3/24/2026 Coaches Meeting, Divisions will meet separtely to decide if Pitching Screens will be adopted for their Division.
  • Teams should have received insurance liability certificate. Each team is responsible to provide the liability certificate to their City.
  • Steve Johnson provided each team with their 2026 Team Roster that includes all players on the team at the end of the 2025 season.  Roster form includes the Player liability information and space for player’s signature.  Note, the Teams and player Registration forms used in past seasons are available on the MSCSA Website and are still valid for registratrion.

9.  General Announcements

  • 2026 Schedules have been uploaded to the MSCSA Website.
  • 2026 Individual Player Participation fees will increase to $25 per player.
  • Deadline for team rosters and fees is March 24, 2026. Fees can be paid with check, cash or by Zelle at seniorsoftrballdfw@gmail.com. Make payments to MSCSA and indicate Team name on Memo Line.
  • MSCSA paid all 2026 insurance fees. Teams will not be charged.
  • Division Representative duties were emailed to each rep.
  • Mesquite Generals organized a Pickleball event at the Grapevine Mills Fieldhouse USA facility for 2/12/2025. Five teams from the East and 5 from West have registered to play a round robin format. The East vs West bracket winners will play to determine a Champion.
